i'm going on holiday to taipei next week form 14th to the 21st. of June
yes. we only booked the hotel and tickets online yest morning at like
3am... uber last min stuff as you can see... i cant believe its thursday now already and we are flying off on monday morning gosh!

been reading bryan wong's blog for the past 2 days or so. my sis chanced upon his blog to find that its amazingly updated... yes, bryan wong the media corp artise. and yes his blog is updated! with very nice pics of his travels, shows, entries on his emotions/thoughts etc... he's set up a fb page and twitter too, but his twitter isnt very updated... anyway his fb page is at http://www.facebook.com/bbryanwong

lol, why i am so random to start promoting his blog etc you ask? well honestly i've been quite a fan of bryan and kim ng... i remember the time when they hosted shows after shows after shows together... their shows were abt all that i watched on tv... and these days with the much decreased standards of many sg tv shows... bryan's shows are just abt all that i watch on chn U/8 (well almost, occasionally there are funny, worthy shows like the ѫp show and the paris and milan show where aunty lucy made her debut... oh the noose is good too, but that's a chn 5 show). esp when there are irritating hosts like mark lee. really really dislike him, idk why he is so popular/hosts/appears in so many shows...

anyway... on tv programs... aint watching any sg made shows atm lol...
hmm, back to bryan's blog... yeah, very surprised that he keeps a blog, keeps it updated, and bothers to upload all those nice pics from his trips/shows etc... very nice entries really. i highly recommend you to go read em :) quite surprised, his english is really good actually... enjoyed reading his entries, really shows the.. human/real? side of him? very interesting experiences that he shared too... was after reading his entries that kinda motivated me to come back to post smthing on my blog :)

ok, so the taiwan trip...

did some more research just now. perhaps half of the research is done already (or more)
tmr gotta plan out the itinerary... and finish up the research.  gotta do all the small things like freeing up the camera's memory card etc too...

dl-ed more apps onto my phone... and i've been having quite a blast on doodle buddy. esp with the new color tone thing (now i can use just abt any color under the rainbow!) and glitter brush! gosh, i love the glitter brush! it looks so good from afar/on my iPhone! heh... doodles on mine are nvr meant to be stared at/taken seriously, mind you!

and on mousehunt... still discovering all that long tail has to offer... but i absolutely LOVE the new trap checks that dont require entire page refreshes... the new crafting/inv and travel page... the much more convenient trap/base/cheese change on the camp page itself... gosh i <3 all the new non-page refresh changes, THEY ROCK! MUACKS MH! really wont mind donating to the game... the devs deserve the donations... however still hesitating since i'm not yet in dire need of sb+ atm, and just remember abt my FB credits which i can use for buying sb+ later on. previously wanted to buy sb+ already, but didnt know how much to donate... the more u donate at once, the cheaper it gets... but the largest amt to donate really is quite a huge sum... plus i've spent some $$$ on buying songs for Tap Tap Revenge... so yeah... see how things goes later on.

man, when i wake up later... it'll be thurs already (i know it IS thurs now already)... and we're flying off on sunday. gosh... so little time left! guess i wont have time to start up on my new training grounds thread till after i come back... gd thing is that the hotel we booked has free wireless! so i can still check up on forums when i'm in taipei... IF i'm not too tired that is. (of cos, i <3 my iPhone!!!)


currently listening to Love Story by Taylor Swift over and over on replay on the cute mp3 speaker i won (connected to my iToy, lame i know, but if u dont use stuff, they'll spoil quite fast). i <3 that song, and can listen to it hours on end...

yeah yeah, i've been copying and pasting stuff over from the other blog but well....


okays... so... exams ended... results were out, i did as badly this sem as i did last sem. exact same lousy gpa GOSH. seriously... i suck. i cant make myself motivated to study anymore. i really... feel like quitting after looking at my results. i did study. i did try. but not hard enough. nor consistent enough. and i still cant make myself stay awake, pay attention to 2 hours of lect. i just fall asleep halfway through. as usual, i say i will do better the next time round... but as usual... its not going to come through. oh gosh... someone slap me awake... someone... anyone...

1st class hons i guess has just became an impossible dream
nah, it was impossible the moment i stopped studying when i entered jc.
its like i stopped all my gears, and things nvr went right since then.
once stopped... my gears could no longer be started...

i guess there is some hope though... all that involvement in HS and other stuff... now i can happily not maple even if its 2x exp or when there's events going on... playing lesser... but it could very well merely translate to time spent on other game related stuff... or just non sch work stuffs. e.g. my training grounds guide. not that those are really bad... but not having the motivation to study...

promised to do things like read up on my chem and jap during the hols... time is slipping by and i've not done anything! next week will be gone... tho i've got an uber long hols till end of aug... but i'm intending to visit a friend in China in aug... she's from chong qing and we'll also be gng to visit the shanghai world expo! but being the lazy person that i am... i've not done anything apart from check the air ticket prices. absolutely nothing..... gah................


so in the mean time.. apart from a whole sem that flew past... and the exams... my dad got me an iPhone (aka iToy) as a bday prezzie! over 500bucks... plus an expensive plan... at 1st was reluctant to change phone... their all so ex these days... was looking for smthing similar to my old phone... candy stick type, not slide, with keypad, no touch screen... but those type were really... extinct! really couldnt find a single phone that fit the bill (esp cos i wanted SE back)

however cos the ear piece contact on my old phone was really... dying... i decided its better to take hold of the opportunity of the IT show to get a new phone... already settled on anio by sony E... took the queue number... but at the very very last min... realise that the touch screen of anio was really really sucky. cant even like unlock the phone properly... used iPhone for a while... the touch screen was uber good... and my dad kept tantalizing me with getting the iPhone... so yeah, last min decision made right at the counter - get an iPhone instead of the anio. Black - i wont have it otherwise, white is really not my color despite how my dad says white is nicer. really i think it looks better in black. my mum got a sumsung jet at the same time :)

no research, no nothing done prior to that. my sis helped did some research but it was btw anio, jet and omina... not iPhone. i didnt even know that the ear piece jet is the normal one... and the touch phone idiot that i was didnt even know how to lock the phone... nor how to take out my sim card...

but after that... gosh now i really <3 my new toy. the touch screen is fantastic! everything works really well... expect when i dropped it from like wrist height in the toilet... the one and only menu button didnt respond... like i had to press it really really hard/hold it... sometimes it just didnt respond at all... really gave a quite a big scare.... thankfully it 'recovered' after that (i dropped it at night, the next day it was working almost completely alright again)... i think the parts just went lose or smthing, but got back into place later. phew! (now the button works perfectly fine!)

i do miss the music ID feature on my old SE phone... where the phone will sample the music being played in the bg and search on the SE site for a matching song... and the bluetooth on iphone doesnt allow sending of files... well there are apps that allow for that, but mostly only btw other iphone users... :(

but apart from those two... gosh i love the phone! all the millions of apps and games! its just grand! the currency converters... unit converters... the fantastic fast speed, convenient web surfing... heh esp the web surfing... really makes my dad jealous everytime - his is a HTC touch pro 2. windows OS, so he can run xcel and stuff really just like a windows comp, screen resolution better than mine too, but the downside is that things aint as userfriendly, and the touch screen is no fight compared to itoy. case in point regarding the userfriendlyness...

itoy: there are only two buttons, pressing the top button offs the screen, AND locks the phone
htc: you have to 1st lock the phone, than press the top button to off the screen. turning the screen off DOES NOT lock the phone. you have to lock it 1st, than off. no doubt its uber irritating... so much so that ppl made programs that re-programs the top button to lock the phone directly... basically its an iPhone emulator... just that it gave the user even more functional tweaks than on the actual iphone. so now my dad happily has a iphone mimic in his pocket :P (at least the lock function and the background when the phone is locked part, yes they even mimic the clock and the slide button) oh yeah... the htc original unlock method is just touch two diff parts of the screen, making it very easy to accidentally unlock the phone and end up calling random ppl... so the iphone slide to unlock mimic solved the problem (as with the slide the answer stuff, made things more user friendly...)


yay! wang xin and sandra are both coming back in june/july <3 you troopers! gosh, how much would wx have changed!!! lol, i wonder if she still remembers she's called wx and not just Yvonne!

hmm... seems like i have a hell lotta stuff to say... i shall continue in my next post that'll be on FF add ons and iPhone apps! :D

Exams are over.... and omg...

exams are over. the papers were disgusting... maybe i'll talk abt them later or some other day... but for now... gosh. i must say this 1st.

was talking to this wonderful chap i met in maple (so hard to find nice ppl there these days) on msn. he asked me abt some sch work in the afternoon, chem and bio related stuff... and thanked me again for helping him just now (really nice). we started chatting abt sch, bio, science related stuff... i told him abt my attachments at ibn and encouraged him to go for attachments... told him abit abt the hydrogels and sent him the paper... than i went to check for the title of the 2nd paper my mentor published. the one that i saw my name hidden somewhere in the acknowledgments... than i realised there were two papers... and lo and behold... my name was in the acknowledgements on both of them gosh. such a privilege, wat an honor! a mere jc kid having her name appear on a paper. yes its just a small, insignificant name in the acknowledgments, but still... hopefully its a nice start to a great beginning >< shot, i shdnt screw up my studies like this... T.T thks to my horrendous performance last sem in which i took a hefty 24AUs, my gpa now is PATHETIC. really PATHETIC. gosh. maybe i shd go back to ibn this hols... but i got an invitation to go visit my friend in china which i do intend to take up >< and than again, this hols is probably the longest hols i'm ever gonna have... and than again, i want to go china... didnt want to go back ibn cos i've been there quite a few times. wanted to go else where but looking thru the list of institutes in astar nothing much else seemed appealing. in the end i hesitated and ending up doing nothing. now i've got plans to go china... and attachments? i really dont know. gotta rethink my holiday plans again. have yet to contact my friend in china. promised to do so tmr. maybe i'll do attachment for two months, and go china in august. nvm, i'll contact my friend 1st. i want to stay in sg during jun-jul period cos that's the stars registration period. and i've got to apply for overload this time round to cont taking jap lvl 4.

gotta thank that friend of mine for reminding me perhaps? of those ibn attachment days. okays, i shd go and read those papers now :P

well my dad was quite surprised when i said i took 8 modules in total last sem... and this sem i have 7 core... and i still planned on taking 2 electives cos i desperately need to clear my electives... he was saying i'm taking on too much.

exams came and passed. my holiday in korea + china came and passed... -.-

i really have to think up of ways to make earning interesting to entice myself to devote more time to studying, apart from the host of games and game related stuff i do. results was a... kiss your high almighty 1st class hons dream gdbye... terrible. i can believe my dad didnt really scold me abt it. i guess we all know. i've been playing games right up to the very last min again and arghs. i hate myself for doing such things. yet when the time comes to actually mug for exams, i JUST CANT do it. man i suck! yes i do suck... even though... arghs... As was one big failure already... i'm doing it all over again. and again. and again. do i ever learn? i guess not. yes in a way i'm still freaking childish i guess. so old and still playing such childish games actively. and than spding so much X on it. arghs.............

i dont know.

i give up.

maybe i'll try typing out my own notes next year and see how things goes. at least that'll force me to actually read my lect notes more. yeah.

as per title....

hmm... 1st paper down... 5 more to go. the japanese paper was still okay, felt better than i did the last sem. at least i hope i can get an A. haiz. so near yet so far. last paper on 8th dec! 2 papers tmr... haiz. hope i can do well for my other elective paper too... i think i'm pretty screwed for some of my core modules so yeah... :(

gah... i'm bored!

wanted to go maple forums... but nope... the forums are under maintenance! imma bored!!!!!!!! yesh i still have a bunch of work to do later on... part of the 102 draft needs to be edited (work split up) and emailed out by tmr, i have to find papers and read up on the causes n prevention of type 2 diabetics cos we are meeting up tmr... gah! 5 hours of break tmr but at least 1 hour will be spent on discussing the diabetic thing. the guy in my grp is like the super worried, kan choing... i dunnoe.. just find his character a bit weird. like how he suddenly come n ask me if i'm in 2nd year (like not direct entry) and know how to search for journals. yes yes i've done so much journal searching while at ibn. then the other 2 gals in my 102 grp were like, huh? year 2 means know how to search for journals arh? how arh? we dunnoe! wat's a journal anyway? proves my point that there are really a lot of ppl so far backward i dunnoe how to describe... their idea of research n all is still like the very childish, primary or secondary sch kind of idea ><

gah. dont wanna talk abt this anymore... i'll go play some games or smthing ><

hello all! in sch comp lab now... biostats lesson LOL. OMG THIS MODULE IS SO SLACK!!!!!!!!!!!! I SWEAR! i just looked thru all the title of all the lects for the module... like all but 1 of the lecture is stuff not taught in jc... and considering that i really aced jc stats... i've already finished all the qns for today's lab... which plenty of time to spare to check out my gc syntax, check wiki for CLT formula and all etc... play facebook even.. hehe...

2 projects stuff on going now with an undone assignment for ACB... ok lah... nothing compared to all that 3, 4, 5, or more performance tasks at once in rg... lol. now my greatest challenge is trying to keep awake, and at the same time still be concentrating on lectures. still have yet to find a way to do so... imagine if i fall asleep half the time during that techno speak elective... where all the lesson content is in this 3 hour lecture once a week... i'll die in the exams lah ><

haiz. okays. her still gng on n on abt approximation n CLT... wonder if the use to gc to skip all the approximation, standardizing etc is accepted in exams... gotta ask the guy later on. <3 my gc ^^

tough days ahead?

been sick for the past couple of days... like fever, running nose, cough n the like.........

been totally heck care abt getting any electives... until like just an hour ago i decided to check out the stars planner thingy.. and to my amazement found this prescribed elective that doesnt clash with my core, has a title that looks interesting, and had 2 slots! OMG! so i went to search the ntu webby on details on the course. turns out that its a course abt english... technologically speaking is the course title. sounds interesting, no? smthing abt how technology changes the usage of language... even things like chat slang and all... the assessment still looks do-able. 50% ca - 2 take home assignments and a quiz. 50% final exam - mcqs and short qns.

then i went to check out on jap lvl2... which i've actually wanted to take but cldnt find a slot that fitted well with my time table... amazingly once again i found slots. picked one that's on tues n friday. the tues one is right aft my adv cell bio lect but i'm hoping the trend of that lecturer always releasing us early continues... probably gotta grab a bite before the lect n eat during the lec or smthing, in case i starve during the jap tut from 6:30-7pm... ><

not sure if i'm taking on too much. well if i slack like i did last year, i'll fluck everything no doubt, but that's the point - i dont want to waste my 4 years in uni n not get my 1st class hons. i dont wanna settle for anything less ><. yeah, a big chunk of it depends on the FYP, which u must get an A for, but if i'm not the one getting the A than who else? hell i did not waste my years rushing PTs in rg for nothing, nor did i spend my holidays at ibn doing nothing... the other day during one of the tuts 2 poly students while doing self intro said they worked at imbc n some other a-star insitute for a year before coming uni - cool stuff, but i did too had attachments at ibn for a total of over 8 months ><. yeah i was a student and they were dip holders so i believe they were lab officers/bio/watever its called in the insitute, but i did learn a lot from fan too. yeah i'm still extremely unsure n not confident if u ask me to come up with a project, design all the experiments and stuff, but compared to the rest of the students where i believe way more than half of them have had no experience watsoever... i'm definitely a lot ahead of them. thks fan!

gotta thks rgs a lot too... we were learning aseptic techniques to culture bacteria the other day... stuff we were taught in rg... >< yeah yeah, some small details like u shd always leave the agar plate inverted to prevent any condensation on the lid from falling back on the agar where not taught before, but the bulk of it? we learnt in secondary sch! they are teaching us how to write reports as a module too. yeah i appreciate them teaching us some new linguistics terms, but i've already picked up quite a bunch of scientific report writing skills... from the time we did a scientific project for RS in rg, to the srp in jc... no i'm not a fantastic writer, i'd probably be taking lit or smthing otherwise, but i really wonder how far back some of my peers can possibly be? i mean, i'm sure there are peeps who did srp also, who knows how to write reports... but if EVERYONE already knows all that stuff, why have such a course? that extra confidence boost, practise etc is always helpful, but i'm sure there are still ppl out there with no concept of report writing at all.

anways... i've missed the 1st 2 lects (bravo!) of the technologically speaking course, and the 1st 2 tuts of jap class. oh wells. the price to pay for not signing up for electives early. i must say that i'm really lucky tho, i didnt expect to get any electives this sem so late.

we have this biostats course this sem and i'm loving it! haha, stats was abt the only part of jc maths i liked anyway, and thus far i see a lot of repeat of jc stats. and the thing is, its BIOstats. basically, they know that in today's world of wonderful computer program and convinences, we dont need to bother abt the mathematical formulas and such (cos we arent taking math!!!!!!!!!!), we just need to understand the concept, and know how to use the programs... haha, my point exactly! just what i like! <3

we have a couple of projects thus far. actually, only 2 lah... not a lot. one on writing a doing a project n writing a proposal, report etc - basically its just PW all over again but with less time to complete. the other is a short presentation for tut class. my topic is on diabetics:causes n prevention. pretty cool topic, but not the coolest :( was hoping i cld get stuff like the bovine growth hormone, slimming pills n such... but oh wells. gotta think of some possible projects for the mini-pw and start searching for journals on the diabetes one tmr. both also got discussion on monday :X

gah... time to get start with work, just hope that this flu will be gone fast ><

sch's in!

1st wk of sch is over, i still have not found an elective to take. found an interesting one in psycology that doesnt clash with my timetable BUT it needs a prerequisite course which i, being a bio student, obviously didnt take. no hope in changing my mon afternoon class to a more desirable time either it seems. so i guess i'm stuck with waiting for FOUR hours on mon and FOUR hours on tues. sucks!

still hoping i can get in an elective before the add drop period ends next week. GAH!

sch's in

yup, sch has started.... met up with dear linger aft my lect n her work, had sushi again (wat else is there in ntu haha). she was really impressed with the sch buildings - cos just nice all the food place n my sch are the nice looking new buildings, the just nice they are repainting the old buildings for next yr's youth olympics, so i guess compared to nus, ntu looks so much better, haha! but seriously... ntu has a lot more new buildings than nus, and the new buildings do have quite a nice design - my sch doesnt look too bad, and the marble floorings inside does make the building look quite high class. the sch of art and design takes the cake - 2 buildings, with all glass on the exterior, in the shape of 2 slops, with grass grown ontop of the slopes. super nice looking - its been featured in the papers before...

anyways, no more slacking for me, i want my 1st class hons gpa and i cant get anyway near it if i continue slacking. i promise to read my lect notes before and revise it again aft the lect. no i've nvr mugged or memorized for any exams, and i WILL nvr do that. okays, i did study for exams still in rg, but its nothing like the way ppl mug for A lvls and such. i'm a smart person, and smart ppl dont mug and memorize stuff! we REMEMBER things haha! no more last mins work, i wanna know things inside out like the way i used it. okay, not exactly inside out, but at least i was sure of more than 80, or 90% of the course content in rg... now i step into the exam rm being sure of... less than half of wat i was taught. >< i wonder how i still get such a good gpa really =.=

okays. lect notes for tmr are still not out....... zzzzzz and tmr's lect is 1st thing in the morn so i guess there's no gonna be any notes... oh yeah, gotta try to stop falling asleep in lects too. last time i'll sleep thru half of EVERY lect. once again i wonder how i got such good grades zzzzzzzz. ok, my grades werent really that good, but i think its still abv average... at least it still starts with a 4... out of 5... either way, i'll make sure that this sem i know 100% for sure that my grades will be a lot better than average. its a promise... and promises are not meant to be broken - <3 linddy for teaching me the value of promises >< haiz... i'm not a good person when it comes to keeping promises, but i know wat i want n wat i must do to get there. well at least i know i want my 1st class hons ><

today's lect was pretty entertaining. or rather, very entertaining. as expected from dr. ken yu's lects. super duper funnieh. great thing abt it is that i dont have much trouble keeping awake ^^. bad thing abt it is... there's none! haha... i like his lects and style of teaching. a teeny weeny bit like hhx's style yeah. my laughing lect... really hope that he's taking us for all the lects, cos in the intro slide it say's he's the course coordinator and he didnt mention anyone else in the slide that's gonna be teaching us...

okays, enough time spent on blogging. i'll try to blog more often but i'm lazy. gah, i haven upload the pics we took for the outing with troopers to my com even. took me so long to upload the pics to shutterfly the other day, plus i cldnt load any webpage properly while uploading the pics >< gah... >< wat am i to do? haiz, still need to find an elective to add to my time table ><

life is full of surprises!

hehehe.... its been so long since i blogged or even visited my blog. sandra reopened her blog (surprise surprise!) which prompt me to take a look at mine (and hers of cos). which was when i realized that mich left a tag regarding her blog moving....

sch's starting on the 10th... or 11th... or august.... cos 10th shd be a hol in lieu of nat day on sunday right? anyways... yest when i check the elective module i've been assigned to aint out yet... so i'mma still waiting... haiz. next sem's timetable aint that great... 3 days starting at 8.30am. 3 days of squeezing in the crowded trains... arh wells... that' the life of a bio student i guess... unlike other courses where they can pack their time table to have free days... ours we dont have much of a choice... lects are fixed timings, tuts are more or less fixed... yeah... we only get to select which tut grp we are in.. hmps... so much so for letting us 'plan' our time table. we only get to choose our electives... but even then, u have 5 choices and its the computer that allocates which one u get into. and worst still... most of the courses have like 1000% of more ppl trying to register... and... ALOT of the modules clash with my core classes so yeah... so much so for the choices... ><

been slacking all hols... surprisingly my gpa was stilll... acceptable... but i must work hard next sem if i ever want to get my 1st class hons... really... :X alrightly... nothing much else to report for now :X

hehehe, i'm forever not updating this place... anyways we went sakae with wx last week... last... erm.. okays i cant remember! but it was so fun!!!! we ate till we were so bloated and its the 1st time we cldnt finish the food... luckily they didnt charge us extra (its buffet). i think now the economy not very good lah, so if they still charge us they scared later no customers? i dunnoe... but its really wasnt our purpose to waste food okay :( we didnt leave THAT much behind either :X...

aft tt we still went ramen ten cos mich wanted to see ash's bf... then we talked n order a drink and a desert (which we cldnt finish) just cos... u cant go in a restuarant n order nothing right? then her senior n her bf gave us a free cup of drink each... and then we were so full that basically we wasted everything... and then we went home!

promised to met up again this week... ard thurs. do ash's hse n play xbox n sing karaok of west life songs... at least i think she said west life.. watever... just go her hse n play ^^

sad to say wx is gng back us b4 sandra can come back sg, unless sandra can come back earlier... otherwise... :(

TROOP OUTING!

wx has adopted the american accent, and has difficulties switching back! when i spoke wiht her over the phone i felt like copying her accent too.. just my natural reaction i guess, like if u keep speaking to me using the china accent chinese, i'll speak that way too... hohoho

still not decided on what to do with my hols... main prob is that i dont feel like gng ibn again, and then i dunnoe which ri to go to. dont wanna do some admin job like last time in rh also. super boring... so yeah... haiz.

Last paper tmr!!!!!!!!!

Aft 4pm tmr i will be FREE! wahahahahaha! last paper from 1-3.30pm. 10 qns choose 9 leh! the longest paper thus far, NO MCQs!!!! a lot of things to remember also lah! need to remember all the biochemical pathways, the structure, the enzyme name or accroymes etc etc! the hardest paper to study for... hey i started studying last night already okays, one whole day more compared to the other papers liao loh. the res ti start studying the night before only (and really late at night)

last and worst paper yet to come

today's paper was ok on the average. it not that i dont know how to do the qns, but rather, cos even tho its just 50 mcqs, like i guessed, there can be multiple choices per qn. if you miss out a correct choice, or shaded an extra choice, no marks. that's what worries me as i'm not sure if i missed out any right choices :S

oh wells. not much i can do abt it now... i did the paper quite fast actually. like 1h30mins finish checking all the qns. didnt make much changes after that, but i still stayed the full 2.5hours of the paper... just didnt want to leave early, even tho bu thte end of the paper, less than 25% of the ppl from my course was left. LOL. everyone cant tahan the waiting time liaos. all chao liao. this is my best sub! so i really hope i did well! was so bored that in the end i was drawing on my graphic calculator. haiz.

at the beginning it was quite ez. i was taking abt 1 min per qn. was at qn 15++ or 20++ i cant remember, there was this qn abt calculating how much the dna would weigh. i was having a bit of a mental block, kinda stuck there, then the lecturer (also took my tut grp, and his our only lecturer for the course, all the qns set by him) walk over to my row. he recognises me (and i liked his tuts) cos his tuts are more of a discussion kind and since nobody spoke up in his class, i started speaking up and answering his qns, soon he was calling me up to the baord to draw stuff... of cos another of my friend (sitting at the other side of the class) joined in regularly later on, which was great cos i NVR EVER did any of my tuts before hand. normally i just read thru the lect notes before the tut and look at the qns. (yet i can still answer his qns during tut! tho not always). so its great to have someone else for him to stare at and extract the ans out from LOL. anyways, the point here is that he recognises me, and would most likely assume that i shd do well in the paper. so anyways i was stuck at the stupd math problem (which i later sloved) and any pressing and whacking nos. on my graphic calculator. and he walks over, looks down at me (the table is short, n he is a tall ang moh guy, and i'm not tall either) and stared for a while, then said, is it that hard? (or smthing like that) and then walked off. i was like thinking... wat the.... wat's that supposed to mean? hey i'll figure this qn out later on okies! its just that i'm having a bit of mental block. and then i looked at my watch. its was just ard 20mins into the paper? i did the qns at like 1min per qn only! that's still not fast enough for you??? somemore its a 2.5hour paper for 50mcq qns... what's the rush? LOL i really have no idea what his comment was supposed to mean :X... lol... oh wells... and that was my interesting encounter for the day. hahas... nothing much else to report le. tata!

today's paper was quite hard. got one part of the qn i dunnoe how do at all. 6marks gone!!!!!!!!!!!! then another whole qn i think i get zero marks liao le. total 18 marks fly liao. then some mcqs were super hard n i dunnoe a no. of them.... all i can hope is that a lot of ppl found the paper hard too and so marks would be moderated up. but i think the paper was harder, since there were much few ppl leaving early this time. in fact i didnt notice anyone leaving till quite late into the paper. like much much later compared to the previous papers.

i really have no idea how wedn papers will be... 2.5hours paper, mcqs exclusively. he didnt tell us got how many qns, niether did he say if its the you can choose more than 1 ans type. today's paper the mcq test super a lot of nitty gritty details that i didnt (as did many ppl) bother to remember. i have absolutely no idea how wedn's paper will be like, cos that sub also dont have so much nitty gritty details to test in the 1st place. and the lecturer said that this yr's paper will be harder than the previous years!!!!! so how is he gonna make it hard is really smthing that i cant figure out. the good thing is that that sub has much less stuff to memorise. most of it is concept based and during the tuts and such i didnt find the concepts hard to understand. really hope that i can do better on wedn. i believe i cant even get an A for today's paper liao... and i was hoping to get all As... haiz. and then my parents are gonna scold me for not studying again. but then i didnt have any motivation to study lehs! NONE. sit in front of comp do nothing. stare at lt notes blanky. force myself off maple then i go play smthing else... so sian lah. at least i still studied more in rg even tho i played super a lot too. haiz. i really hope my gpa this time is good okies. last sem my gpa missed the 1st class honors scored by like 0.1 or less. although you stil need to get an A in the fyp to get 1st class honors, but there's the gpa requirement too... arghs... totally screwed up BIG time today! and my jap wasnt that good too... ARGHS i didnt do well for econs last sem also! dammit all my electives are screwing up my gpa! and i didnt do perfect for my core modules too so my gpa is so screwed!!!!! granted i believe its still much better than a lot of ppl but that's their problem, i have my own standard (yet i dont work to get there, how ironic) ARGHS i suck :(

luckily wedn's sub only had 10 lectures, and all the tuts are written on the back of the lect notes, much lesser things to study but argh the greatest headache comes with 106. biochem which has quite some phy part in the beginning, at least enough to remind me of how my 102 was like th worst sub out of eveything last sem (and the beginning of 106 is quite like 102) and then at the back there's so many chemical formulas, eqns, pathways, enzyme names to remember i dont think i'll be able to finish remember them all. arghs... i think 107 shd be my best paper this sem, if i dont do well on wedn i'm dead!

2nd round of exams starting tmr...! yet i still slacked the whole wkend... aft go jc i cant find the mood to study liaos... last sem quite lucky, gpa can consider quite gd (but not gd enough to me) but then this sem dunnoe if so lucky or not... and yet i still slack so much... someone motivate me to study pls :(
but then.. somehow bio comes rather naturally to me, as long as there's not too much details or chem in it. but of cos i'm only in yr 1, i believe things shd get much harder later on. i hope it would actually. else what's the point of going uni right? its to challenge urself de mah. okies. go study liaos

jap was rather hard, i keep mixing up my hiragana n katakana.... plus i didnt really go study all the name esp the katakana names... so i have no idea how well i'll do. esp since 30% of it is on the orals and normal time work, and i didnt do very well in normal time work...

108 felt better than jap. at the bulk of the mcqs were easy.... not sure how well i'll do either once again.

109 and 107 coming up next. 107 is all mcqs sia... cool! no need study much liaos? wonder how many mcqs there will be... 2.5hours paper somemore leh! i bet a lot of ppl will leave aft super early once they finish. the jap and 108 paper quite a lot of ppl leave early lah. esp the jap paper. the guy sitting on my right finished like in 1 hour or less... then he sat ard for a while, flipping thru the paper then finally decided to leave. wah! so fast lah! i was still struggling to remember how to wat all the letters! sighzzzzzzzzzz

parents back from china liao, ma bought a STACK of bag from china, seriously, so many bags that its enough to form a pile/stack... bought this li ning back pack which i really like - its small lah, not for bringing to sch on days when u have a lot of lessons, but it looks super nice :D can br when go shopping etc.

yest i was standing ard in my sis room and watching antm on her laptop with her when suddenly i felt some strange thing underneath my big toe... i was half stepping on the ladder of her double deck bed and kept moving my other feet ard when i suddenly felt this weird feeling thing... i looked down to see myself stepping on an overturned croachroach ... i was kinda shock to see a croachroach in the room, puzzled as to my it was OVERTURNED tho. the croachroach was like half alive, wriggling abt and missing half a leg. somehow after this 69kg giant half stepped on it, its not dead yet... i guess i didnt put my entire weight onto that foot bah, cos once i felt that weird thing i looked down and jump away. my sis was laughing so hard throughout the whole incident and while disposing the half dead roach that her whole face turn RED. like really RED.

hope that was the roach the fell on my hands from the door of the bathroom the other night, cos i didnt kill THAT roach... else it'll mean there are more roaches in da hse :S hey come on, our house is clean ok! we dont have crumbs lying all over or anything like dat! i vacumed the floor! strange... i hardly see roaches in the house and last week i saw 2 already. gah. time to study 108...

had orals today, was uper nervous, but i finished quite fast and didnt had to ask her to repeat. my friends say 3mins done. thing is that... i think i made some sentence structure mistakes :S and then she ask me for the date of the day aft tmr and i was stuck for a while on how to say the 10th of the month..... :S

no more sch this sem. next week exams start already. jap 1st followed by 108. yucks

here's the korroke yinster cooked yesterday. mash potatoe with minced pork and chopped onions and bread crumbs on top, then deep fried.

jap listening today was hard. they read super fast and trick ppl somemore. like got a qn ask where that person go on sunday. that person said out of list of things, only to say that its wrong and that was wat she did on sat... and sunday she did smthing else! super tricky ok! and only say once OMG! then alll the large large numbers i couldnt catch lah... i'll be lucky to get 50% for this listening man.... orals tmr... wah....

ya i know my blog super ugly n in need of a facelift. but i'm lazy to make one... maybe i shall hunt for a chem/bio theme one next time... i'm sure someone would have made a bio/chem themed blogskin somewhere right?

sighz. so many of my friends are overseas, and so many blogs (in the sidelink) abandoned or close...

today's lab was super simple and super short. we wasted a lot of time tho else cld have finished in less than the 1.5hours we took. identify the diff stages of mitosis of teh onion root tip.... -.- same slide as the one i saw in rg. lol. the looking at yeast mutants - that was more interesting. and i actually had a bit of trouble focusing the microscope (1st time ever!) cos there was so many bubbles (didnt put coverslide properly :S) and quite a lot of dust on the slide/microscope/ i dunnoe wat. but still, i managed to see the cells very nicely. ha, i pride myself in being able to use the microscope well ks :)

yah, i'm not a very helpful person in the house i know. normally my job scope is just wash the dishes aft dinner and sometimes help vacumn (after ma yell at me 10 times) the living room/other rooms besides my own.

japanese oral n listening next week! so fast sia! a bit scary leh... the oral will be RECORDED somemore!!!!!!! for wat reasons i have no idea...
also our 107 lecturer just told us that the exams for that sub will consist of MCQs ONLY, EXCLUSIVELY. i dunnoe whether to jump for joy or be scared. he say it'll be harder than the previous years somemore. MCQs means no need to memorise anything. just have the concept enough le, BUT MCQs means its gonna be super tricky, and i'm quite careless at times... :S

apart from that nothing much happening in RL. lots of stuff in the virtual world but i've decided to keep this blog out of those...

ntu open house

went out with my darling junior to ntu open hse yest. me, yin, sw and her friend, showed them ard ntu library, the food court, ard my sch lobby, the classrooms... at 1st wanted to go nus with her today and meet with wanling too, but after yesterday i was so tired... :P shall print out all my lect notes nicely and not wait till the lsat min like usual.

exams on the 14,15,20,22,28 or april (or smthing like that) 1 month left only omg! time flies too fast, esp when u are having fun and slacking ard. its like the term time is way too short! this time cant afford to study an average of 2 hours for each sub anymore. stuff like metabolism got quite some bit to remember. have to remember all the reactants and enzymes for stuff like calvins cycle and so on, and a lot of formulas too. bleh. cant slack so much already...

pa gng china for his work stuff on 22nd march i think? and ma will join him for 1 week at the end too. not sure what time she gng (or rather, i forgot) but they coming back on the 12th or 13th, like JUST before my exams :P

poor yin tho, she need to wake up EARLY for sch. luckily she found out that she can wake up with her hp, else... i dunnoe... hey i'm NOT gnna wake up at 5+ to wake her up! :P so bad rite...?

long time no see!

OMG! just realised my last entry was LAST year! Gosh! didnt realise i've been neglecting my blog for so long!

several things happened since the last time i blogged...
1) sch reopened
2) my laptop graphic card got burnt (thk god its still under warrenty) and it was in hospital for a week ++ waiting for the new stock of graphic cards to arrive
3) had a mid term 1 week break
4) break ended and sch reopened (again) yesterday
and oh 5) yesterday some indonesian chinese from ntu, sch of triple E, a 4th year student, went crazy, stabbed his professor, slit his wrist, and jumped down 5 storeys to his death...

okies. and now no. 6) i have a quiz tmr, and japanese lessons in an hour so i ought to go buy some food now so i wont be flipping thru my TB looking for how to say hungry in japanese later on... :S :P

so the troopers went out last thursday, me ash sandra mich n joy to suntec swensens for dinner :) it was really fun catching up and gossiping on ms nair's bf LOL then we went to sit ard the fountain of weath n watch the laser lights display with loud loud music n ppl walking ard the fountains in the middle (after the laser light display ended) for *weath*. lol ash says it looks like some cult activity LOL. suntec city cult! with people walking ard the fountain religously. the laser light display i found it rather normal, but i like the ending part where they light up the whole fountain in pink/blue/watever colour u have, and there's lights on the floor showing yellow. i thought that effect was great, too bad i forgot to br my cam. took a picture with my hp though.

maybe i shd make a seperate blog for putting all the random pictures i took. next time i guess, and if i have enough pics. ;)

Both songs are rather slow, which is kinda contary to what usually go for. well pictures of you is not that slow lah, but shadow of the day is a really really slow song, and soft at the beginning too. esp slow n soft at the beginning. i downloaded the song long ago but never got past the 1st 20 seconds of the song. it was only the other day they were playing it in sch i think (playing the the canteen, got no choice cant change song) that i actually listened to the entire song. went back home and randomly played some songs when i was bored and kinda forced myself to listen to the entire song, and surprisingly realised that the music got louder and kinda darker as the time passed. pictures of you is the song that is currently stuck in my head and refusing to leave tho. chanced upon it while randomly playing all the songs in my comp. my sis downloaded it but i never listened to the song before till abt a week ago. lol. both songs are like uber outdated now i bet, but who cares? i dont like listening to the radio for new songs, ever since that time i spent like 2-3 hours listening for any songs that sounds nice and didnt find ANY. lol.

yupz the troops finally met up today! been soooo long since i last seen mich, and soooo long since we last meet up 2gether. the last troop meeting was during wx's farewell... really long long ago sia...

went ikea... cos mich got craving for chocolate moose at ikea! haha, we all ate chocolate moose but ikea's cheese cake is good too... that's for next time haha. sadly mich got lect after that :( bloody lect literally and figuratively. lol. then sandra needed to get some halloween custume stuff, so went (me ash n sandra) trooped down to far east to look for halloween outfits! wahaha! the shoppping part was blah tho... not many shops + not much choices + way over priced. like this cheap cardboard hat is like wat... 15 bucks and this piece of pvc vest going for 12bucks??? daylight robbery sia. somemore the quality sux i bet i can make smthing much better at half to cost -.-|||

nice long weekend ahead. but exams are looming. the term here is too short... 12 weeks of lect/tuts... total of 17 weeks per term including term break. wow. rest of the time? slack during hols. hmm.

lol... i'm real gald rgs hasnt joined in. it would have been really hard to merge all 3 schools currently anyways. one is in the north, the other in the south... but really rgs is way too different from the to be merged, from rj especially, since i ahem did not attend lessons at ri b4. totally diff uniform and sch badge, diff sch song (yes rgs has a sch SONG NOT an ANTHEM) and a really diff education system from rjc. seamless through train program? lol. it really wasnt that way during my time - which was just a year ago. topics that were covered in rg were completely retaught in rj. this is unlike nj whereby they teach the ip and non-ip students seperately and thus make it more seamless for the ip students (however it created a huge ip vs non-ip divide). a truly INTEGRATED program? i think its not possible... teaching styles have to change from a project based, hands on learning, to one that is more on drilling exam techniques, disecting/following the syllabus word for word... you name it... not to say that rjc down right sux, though i do not approve of their style of education, its just that the reality is such that they need to prepare students for this monster known as the GCE A lvls, and they only have a measily 1.5 years++ to do so. All that hype abt the 6 year program and so on, but still, Reality Hits. i wish rjc could have done things differently, but they chose those methods to prepare their students, and they do have their success stories to be proud of... that's just the way things are, nothing can suit everybody and sometimes u just end up being those that arent suited for somehting

for all those currently in rg/rj (well maybe it'll help those in ri too), here's some differences in their education system from what i have experienced... things are constantly changing of cos, but heres some word of advice i can give (*wonders if yinyi's friends still read my blog, else this will just help no one i guess*)

answering techniques: rgs does stress on it, esp in upper sec bio, but it becomes especially impt in rj/for As - use KEYWORDS. they are called KEYwords cos w/o those KEYwords, the door to marks for that qn wont open (i.e. u get zero)

in rgs, always elaborate, no elaboration = low/no marks.
come rj? just answer the qn. and by that, i mean JUST ANSWER THE QN!

e.g. :
Qn: Do you like to eat apples?
Answer needed in rgs: Yes, i love to eat apples because they are crucnhy, have a lot of vitamins, and are good for your health etc etc
RJ: Yes.

see the difference?
writing anymore than wat the qn requires of you means that you are just WASTING your time, and time management is very important in exams, just as the promotional exams, premlimenary exams, and A lvls.


teaching/learning methods
rgs: as long as you are willing to learn, they will teach as much as they can. (how much they CAN teach varies greatly from teacher to teacher, but generally they are all very nice and helpful. well. Generally that is... -.-''' there are always exceptions.) and even if there seems to be more exceptions than the norm we will still call them exceptions ok?

rj: anything out of the syllabus = dont teach or dont know

i found learning a lot more fun in rg... i was really struggling to maintain my interest in rj. well my advice is: try to find out wat you like... e.g. whether you like arts more, or sci that kinda thing. then stick with it and ENJOY the subject as much as you can in rgs. learning is supposed to be FUN, esp in rg. learn to love the subject and it will help u pass that 2 years. read as much as you can, there is NO SYLLABUS, EVER! read widely, build up your interest in rgs, better still read the A lvl syllabus ahead so that next time you have at least an inkling of wat they are teaching and it'll make things easier for you. of cos that !#$@#$@ A lvl monster would limit most of us from reading much extra stuff in jc, but try to keep the flames and passion for the 'love' of ur life burning. its a great dismay when someone comes and put out the flames like they did to mine... nvrmind i shant talk abt such sad things now. but i know a lot of ppl who cant figure out what they like... either they like everything or they hate everything. sry i dont have much advice on what to do if u are those sort of ppl, but try to feel which subject you like. are you happier when reading abt a particular subject? do you enjoy doing the hw from a particular sub better? or do you enjoy a particular lesson more?*** identify wat u like more as early as possible (just like how u identified wat NOT to take in sec 3)... of cos tastes and preferences changes, but still it makes things easier when u are liking smthing, so why not take the easy way out?

***its a bit misleading at times, cos teacher influence whether a lesson is enjoyable or not. teachers can make you love the subject to death, yet they can also change the love of your life into your most hated subject... beware of the 'evil' teachers lol...

ok. i think i rambled a lot, now for something more useful: rgs goes by the modular system. learn a few topics, test, and forget abt the topics FOREVER...! (or is it really FOREVER???) when test comes, we always ask: sa or fa? (summative or formative accessment?) summative? must study!!! formative? aiya heck lah, go do hw/study for SAs

in rjc, difference no.:
1) topics taught MUST be remembered till the end of jc2 (or die a horrible death, u choose)
2) topics that you learn from sec sch (and hapily forgot) are needed in jc! OUCH! e.g. math! remember ur differenciation, intergration, indices, log etc etc? ALL needed in jc also! unless u dont take math lah!
e.g. 2 for those taking bio: sec 4 (at least i did) learn mitosis and meiosis, than happily forgot 95% of it? heh, those 2 topics in the A lvl syllabus sia, hope u didnt throw away ur rgs notes!
3) SA/FA??? eh? ????? all tests are counted leh, dont think its a formative and dun study for ur common test!

as the pionior batch of choo choo train ppl, we (as a batch) made the following mistakes (evident from our 1st common test):
1) think/treat it as FA, never study - die loh
2) think its not very important, dont leave enough time to study, end up cannot finish studying - also die loh
3) study! but then study and forget! cos of brain capacity only got enough space of 3 months worth of work, not half a year! OUCH! study last few topics, then forget the 1st few topics...
4) as term progress, learn one topic and forget the previous, overwhelmed by the amt of things that need to remember in common test....

then of cos a lot of us cant answer qns properly - no exam technique...*we can crap a report out of thin air, make high class presentations w/o scripts, and finish a fabulous, shiny looking power point complete with graphics, animation, sound effects and not have a single bullet point/textbox even 1 pixie out of line in 1hr but wat???? u are asking us to answer qns??? wat the @#$%#$%* you get what i mean... plus a lot of us are just not very used to mugging.

okok, that's as much as i can tink of now...

conclusions: rgs is great, we all complained abt pts (performance tasks) but i remember what i did in my pts, and not wat i mugged for exams. plus, no matter wat it was still more fun than mugging! and hey, it was cool too (some cool pts i did: 1) make fermented food, my grp made sour doughbread, others made yougert, kim chi etc. 2) make a toy using a motor - huge headache, mine was down right lousy, but some of my class/sch mates made cool looking toys that WORKED 3) make an electrophoresis kit and come up with adverts, was fun, rushed like siao but still.... 4) made perfumes in RS. extracted our own essential oil from spices - 1st grp ever to do that in rgs. downright COOL. 5) make a model on DNA packaging 6) 7) 8) lol a million and one things we did that brings back great memories...)

rgs really gave me a lot of opportunities. the chance to make presentations and become a slightly less shy, and slightly better speaker, the chance to hold a leadership position (who knew such a shy person like me would ever hold any leadership position???) a chance to challenge myself intellectually, a chance to shine, a chance to enjoy the subjects i really love (e.g. in RS, sec 4 options etc).... etc... sec sch life is the best ever, i wished things will never change when i was in sec 4, and now i still wish i'm in sec 4... really, rgs has a lot of resources that we take for granted during our stay there. we made crepes and lansangna whereas ppl from other schs only made boring stuff like fried rice and wat not... we got centrifudges, pcr machines, autoclave machines, uv-vis spectrometer, incubators, tons of micropipettes etc etc... really fantastic lab facillities if you ask me. personally i didnt see a single micropipette in rj (and the burette in rj dont have a tap, its the ultra old fasion type that uses a clip!) let alone the other high tech stuff. probably rj has them, but i didnt even get to see (let alone use) them. our library and comp labs are very well equiped with loads of computers and iBooks omg! (in rj its hard to even find a comp to use) and we have comps in every classroom, and a very cool CLCLC (Cammee Lim Cyber Learning Center) lol.

rgs prepares us more for life skills rather than exams, and i loved that


rj aint too bad lah, they did teach us a lot and tried their best to prepare us for the As. we learnt a lot - u'll appreciate it in uni, still i wish things could be done differently. maybe when they get rid of A lvls lol, which is unlikely to happen i guess... oh wells...

in sch, computer lab, waiting for teacher to start... think they screwed up and didnt upload the prac ws b4hand on the sch website for us to download. okies. now he starting to intro the prac session liaos. 20mins gone.

they go photocopy the ws for us. so nice... haiz a lot of lab reports not done. got one due this fri, and got one due on 25th, and one on 24th. of this month of cos...

and got 3 quizes coming up too. this thurs org chem quiz. next thurs is intro bio quiz, next nex wedn is econs quiz. totally gonna heck abt econs. the econs only 20mcq in 40 mins.....

whee.... went cycling this morn, weather was sooo hot i'm like burnt now... well mostly my arms only lah... so not that bad...

school's ok... shudders to think that time passes so fast... like the exams are coming up way too soon! half the sem is gone already!@#!!@#!#@! seriously... where the heck did all the time go???? speaking of which i've wasted 19 years already! lol! getting old....

school's been good... haha but i haven blogged in a while again. ok since the title is named as such, i'll start with wx's farewell on sun instead... erm well... wat to say abt it? shopped with ash on fri for a prezzie. at jurong point... cos we went in the morn b4 our lessons. just nice - me at ntu, she from home at boon lay... so i thought jp would be convienient. in the end it turns out that i have no lab tho so i wasted my time going to sch from jp but oh wells... met at like 9? well i was late... it was more like... i woke up close to 9 -.-''' my bad... but then... realised later that the shops dont open that early!!! so like me n ash were hungry so we went to buy old chang kee and went to the food court and sat down and talked and ate old chang kee + some drinks we got until like.. cant remember... but quite late... maybe almost 11! :D haha... then i wanted to get some assesories for wx but like couldnt find anything that looks like wx's style. not glittery enough, not the type for her body... just not her... realised jp was a bad place to shop than... but like... no other choice now? -.- but b4 that darling ash remembered... wx's favourite body shop haha... so we went to our backup plan and walked ard and ard the small shop trying to decide wat to get for her. settled with the lip butter 1st... cos it'll be rather dry over there in winter... (actually ithink its dry in winter anywhere???) so it'll be practical... chose a funky smell... that's quite strong... fruity kind... we both like it... so gald that wx was thrilled with wat we chose haha :D then we walked ard the shop somemore trying to decide wat else to get her. we tried the perfume but ash say its too strong. so we tried the body mist but cant really tell the diff btw 2 of the scents... in the end i picked according to color w/o reading the words on the bottle... so that's how we ended but buying the bottle that says wat seductive scent or watever that wx was reading out LOL. oh man... next time we shd read the bottle as well as smell wat's inside :S

after that... shopping over... lunch! went to haha... sakae sushi for lunch whee!!!!!!!!!! apparently they have offer for like lunch buffet in some outlets, but got time limit of one hour... just nice for us since ash only got 1 hour b4 class! cannot waaste food else pay extra... no probs man... we like devoured the sushis lol... ate like 14 plates or smthing... on top of the two complementary red plates haha... wah ash we must do it again!!!! somehow just feel that i shd give wx my fav metal puzzles too... so we met a bit earlier on sun to go imm to buy them :D haha... wonder if wx really played with em on the flight.... but 18 hours long flight sia... 18 long long long hours! wat to do? i will die sia... play comp game maybe... shd have power point on the flight one... dont think got internet tho... or watch movies lol... but i'm not a fan of movies as you know... hm... was quite a big turnout at the farewell party... a lot of her church friends came and wx was like running all over the place... wah i suck big time at doing stuff like hosting! haha:P catered dinner... but the food her mum, grandpa and friend made were really good... was the best part i guess. esp the cheesecake her friend made... damn cool, very cheesy with choc bits!!! her friend made it again specially for her yest cos she didnt get to eat on sunday... real sweet of her:) then we watched the ping pong match in which sg didnt even bother to put up a fight... gah... oh and haha we took funky funky pictures after that :D - uploading in progress.. 10 left to upload...

skipped econs lect yest to go airport... lol shdnt have bothered to go for tut too... like didnt learn anything new like dat. lol. took like 1h 40mins+++ to reach there from sch... managed to finish 70% of a tut on the train... i was quite surprise that in the end i was the only one from rj there tho... like everyone wanted to go but sadly cldnt make it... ash last min say got bio test, mich got library tour, sandra got grounded :(, joanna went mia (dunnoe she got, but i thought she'll go) luckily a no. of her church friends went else it'll be a bit weird if its just me, her, her sis and her relatives+mum's friend like dat... as in.. no other teens... wah wx damn cool sia... was wearing black, rather tight fitting jeans and shiny sliver shoes with shiny black watch. HEY WAIT!!!! i just realised its the FIRST TIME i see wx wear JEANS omg!!!! haha cos she needs to wear long pants cos over there its abt 15 degrees or so... wahahahahah!!!! didnt take any pics with my cam tho... wx u better post those pics up soon! :D haha.

wahahaha... kk i'll stop her for the wx part... i think wx shd fill up the rest!!! haha.

now i go on to talk abt me myself and i :D

3rd week of uni so far. 1st lab session tmr. loving it so far. some lects are really cool... really enjoying myself at times... i'm so gald that i was a crazy girl reading all that extra stuff in sec sch. didnt help me than, but some of it helped me in jc, and now its STILL helping me in uni. cant believe it man, that some stuff i read soooo long ago is useful now. its like the stuff i learn soooo long ago is wat they are teaching now, some with added on knowledge of cos, but some like newman and fisher projection... there's nothing much to add on. those jc stuff are coming in useful too of cos... :D like today we learn abt the phase diagrams... at 1st look i didnt understand wat it was all abt... then i took a 2nd look and i was like... HEY I READ IT B4 IN SEC SCH!!!! somewhere... i think it was in a a lvl text or smthing... but that realy helped me understand the 1st part of the lecture, which is really helpful cos in this biophysical chem lecture... the past 2 lects took me really really long to understand and i only understood the lecture better after the tutorial... so today that was k inda like a breakthrough lol. and with stuff like biochem... gosh the stuff we are learning now is just so interesting... its wat i've wanted to learn abt all along... :D so yeah, on the whole i'm really happy with uni life right now. really slack too. yeah you have to study hard, read the lect notes, do tuts... but still, i've got so much more free time compared to jc. like there's a lot of free time in btw lects and tuts so i'll do my tuts during that time. and then lect notes? i'll glance through when printing them out and read them again b4 (and of cos during) lecture. guess i shd start doing extra work like reading the textbook etc soon... but basically so far its like quite slack... i find the whole system more like rgs than in jc... esp like the rgs sec 4options timetable wise. like you can pick which class u want to go to that sort of thing (yes wx, u're not the only one who gets to plan ur own timetable haha) in short, i'm loving uni so far, and loving my course a lot a lot... let's hope things stay nice and happy this way, hope that no one will ever come along and disrupt my love for science again :D :) :D

but yeah, haha i feel that i chose to perfect course for me. cos, i love chem a lot... but in jc i realised that i dont quite like inorg chem and phy chem. and org chem which gets too complicated... is well simply too complicated and not that easy to do. so in my course... we have org chem module (just talking abt the core modules here), but only in the 1st year, so we'l only be touching on the basic org chem stuff... and then we have biophysical chemistry. which i've realised is like... low lvl physical chem for little kids like me who hates it when it gets hard with too much math and phy calculations involved. basically we only learn the parts of phy chem that is relevant in bio, and we only learn the simple part becos that all you need to know to apply it in biological systems. cool man. cool stuff. :D was looking through the tuts more carefully and realised all the qns, however complicated looking at 1st, were actually very simple. only involves the choosing of the correct eqn (and remember which ones to use in exams too i guess) and doing calculations which is like primary school math plus we use a calculator. not that hard. probably need more practise tho. but yeah. loving it :D love it when the lecturers talk a lot of extra stuff... which some of them do quite often... all those lovely tibits of extra information... just like wat we had in sec sch (which is totally unlike rjc's policy of 'we dont teach if its not in the syllabus')... loved that, and am still loving it now... wah... feeling all the excitement when the lecturer talks abt smthing i read/studied b4, the kind of estacy i have not felt in a looong looong looong time... falling in love with science all over again... this feeling is great man, its just so great. and cos my friends didnt study a lot of the stuff which i did, they are always asking me qns... like the two of them, taking turns to ask me qns none stop... lol... loved that too... man... the more i speak, the more this feels like rgs, the better this feels! gosh! pure estacy. FINALLY!

So it was a hectic last week at ibn. my mentor was rushing to finish off his experiments, and i was busy wiht the last of the experiments PLUS making of my exit presentation. the presentation went well in the end... well at least i didnt stumble too much and could answer the qns they asked.

It was a great 6 months at ibn. 6 months wow. time flies. in all i've been in ibn for ard 9 months already. so much that i learnt there. all the watching of the safety videos lol. now at ntu sbs, they made us watch some videos too... the same ones that i watched at ibn! lol. luckily they tell us to watch at our own time, so i skipped the ones that i watched for 4 times already... maybe if i'm realy bored i'll watch it again... but then again, watching it for the 5th time would make my REAL bored! LOL.

Thanks for the memories... learning how to use the mircopipette properly. that was most likely the 1st thing i learn under the electric fan. yeah. the legendary pipetter. LOL... something that requires care and attention when doing, smthing that still lets me down at times. ew. then i learnt how to use the multi channel pipette. lol... u can call this... erm.. upgrading? haha. learnt to use loads of equipment too... like the UV-Vis machine, freeze dryer... k i cant really load the sample properly onto the freeze dryer... scared the thing will fall off and break but nvm... and of cos my favourite, beloved rheology machine... cant stand it when ppl from other labs come and make a mess on the machine and never clean up, and i dont understand how, within the span of a few months, ppl can use the machine in such a careless manner as to leave TONS of scratches on the dear sensor... when after 3 years of using the sensor by me and fan, and some other students, the sensor didnt so much as to sustain a single scratch! those ppl.... really! sheesh!

i gotta thank fan loads for teaching me so much stuff tho. he took my power point making skills to a new lvl... we made good ppt in sch for pts (performance task). but the problem with those are that.... they are sch projects. we put loads of graphics, animations etc... stuff totally unecesary in working arena. and after 2 whole years of not doing a single pt, i really have to thk him for being so nice and editing my ppt, adding in content, coming up with a good title for me... really i dont think any other mentor does that. at least not the ones in my lab. actually, i dont think he edited his other student's exit presentation... didnt see him do it at least? dont know. but yeah he took good care of me... lol spoilt me a lil with the constant tea breaks and always thinking for me. but that's the problem with me doing his project i guess. and i have no idea i'm truely really to do my own project... know too lil and slack too much. !#$@#$@ i shd finish this post soon and read tmrs lect notes!!!!!!!!!!! but yeah, thks for teaching me so much, patiently showing me how to do cell culture, telling me your mental processes when planning experiments. i'll put them to good use :D

and for my friends out there who has been teasing me all the time... i admire this guy for his maturity - the way he carrys himself during work and how he plans out experiments and stuff. granted he has 4 years worth of experience as of now, but he didnt seem less confident/mature etc 2 years ago... i really wonder if i can match up to him. when i'm as old as him/with as much working experience, would i been as discipline, and mature as him? would i be able to plan and carry out my experiments as well as he does? partly, his discipline and hardworkingness is what motivates me to work hard now, and his love for science and research... seeing him smile through his eyes when he talks abt his love and passion... i know that doing research can be a great, rewarding job. i know i can do it, and i cant possibly loss out to him :) and so its time to study!

last week left - the end of the beginning

its the end of the beginning. i phrase i coined myself... how apt. now that ibn attachment is ending, and uni life will very soon begin. study hard... an advice i've hear constantly. i will try my best!

i hope that the end of the ibn attachment will but be a beginning of my love affair with science. tho i had been in love with science in sec sch (and b4 that), jc life has made everything uninteresting for me, and ended my flair for science. thks to this attachement, i very much hope that the flame can be relighted again, and be left to burn till eternity, and may the fuel never run out, and may the wood be dry and easy to light... it's time i start working hard again. i've been lazing around for way too many years. time to start work. its now or never.

went swimming on sat and sun, haha, kinda felt like i did do smthing more useful this weekend.

on another note, i need to get new earphones again. spoilt my old ones yet again. like the nth on i've spoilt lah. dun ask me why. and i dont yank it ard or anything like that. sucks man. grrrrr.

on a happier note, there'll be a troop meeting smtime soon. as a belated bday celebration for our dear michelle! happy belated bday darling! you are now 19!

August is coming

yes, august is coming, meaning that, my attachment at ibn is coming to an end :( and that sch is starting.

that means soon i'll have to stop my crazy playing way, and start getting crazy over school work. a different form of craziness. still need to decide how much time to put into weiqi.

online matriculation is quite late sia, and i think i can only see the timetable after matriculation... so i still dunnoe how my week would go... buying books and stuff also have to wait till sch opens then see wat to buy and find seniors to buy from. then also need to explore the school. haven explore it yet..... hmm. all starting from 4 aug bah.

personalities

they say boys mature more slowly... now that i think abt it... its true... and maybe the fact that people claim i'm more mature for my age doesnt help too... how fast ppl mature will depend on your experiences and personality i guess. arghs boys seem sooooo immature. it really doesnt help when the bench mark i have seems to be too high (compared to other boys of the same age). i think my mentor is an exception bah. even when he is childish i still think its quite ok... whereas some ppl who is the same age as him are contstantly very childish. like maybe they are just the more talkative, gossip loving type... or watever. but really depends a lot on personality i think. a no. of boys i met are quite/very mature too. and yes i've actually met quite a no. of boys my age who are very mature, handle their responsiblities very well, are trustworthy... able to handle situations well. in chinese i would say they have good ban shi nen li, together with the fac that they are actually very mature. this is in contrast to some other guys... esp this guy whom as usual i will not mention the name or even make it obvious who he is. while he can be serious, i think he jokes too much... like adding too much lame jokes into what is supposed to be a rather serious occasion. and ban shi nen li cannot quite make it also. and he's not too young anymore, and more importantly his role requires him to be more serious.... really hope he improves..... otherwise...... shant say it and give his identity away.

other ppl have no sense of occasion... behaving noisly/childishly/distractingly when the situation calls for a more serious mood... of cos i must say that some girls can be quite/equally childish, just as some boys are also very mature. oh well. i've come to accept that my mentor is one of his kind... just as the numerous friends i met in jc. sad that they got NS so we wont really meet in uni... those guys i met in my cca are really nice boys i'd like to keep in touch with. hopefully someday we will meet again bah. okies that's all for today.

yes i'm tired. had a long discussion at the swa yc thingy. in front was, in my opinion, mostly talking abt useless stuff. only point no. 13 seems more useful... same as the last meeting. zzz.

today had a rather enjoyable day. lunch was particulary funny. went out with all the students in my lab, plus my friend in the next lab, plus the new lab officer, plus my mentor. yeah he in ultra good mood today. had funny funny convos lah. then they asked my mentor what's there to do in taipei cos my friend going there for 5 days in aug. haha aug not a good time to go sia. apparently its hotter over there in aug compared to sg! :S

haha. ok. today was damn fun... but somehow i got nothing to write. or rather, i dunnoe how to write. oh wells.

busy busy busy

wah today is a busy + tiring day man! spent the whole day in the lab, save for lunch time and less than 20 mins from like 4+ to ard 4.20pm. no time to even take my comp out of my bag, or drink water!

went to work earlier today. reached b4 9. but as usual, my mentor was there already... and was already in the lab when i reach. but i think he just reached/went to the lab cos he haven even take out the materials from the freezer yet. in fact, he dont even have the experiment protocol cos he printed out one for me yest and he never print another one after that (being the nature/earth loving, save the environement person that he is...) then after that was... standing up the whole morn as he did the main part of the experiment. in the afternoon tho... i was the one doing everything... and that took quite long sia... only finish all the cell culture stuff at 5pm. and since my whole day was already gone, i decided to be nice and fill up all the glass pipettes and pipette tips etc... and that took until like 6.30pm. and that was with my friends help (tho she fill v slow and only joined later, but she still manged to fill like 3 boxes... tho i filled like twice as many in the same time period :P total i filled ard 10 boxes of pipette tips today... )

went to work, started off by doing imaging. yup, taking pics of cells and more cells. in 24 well plates. then i warmed up and change the medium for all my cells. 1 flask + the well plates one. while taking images there was suddenly a power outage, and the air con stopped working after that. started getting rather hot n stuffy in the cell culture room but then i was almost finishing. then i realise that cos normally the cell culture lab quite cold mah, but now no air con so the lens and other metal, cold parts started having water vapour condensing on them. couldnt see the image properly... had to wipe off all the water 1st. then just as i was finishing up (only lef the clearing up to do), got annoucement asking us to all evacuate nanos. decided to parafilm the medium n keep it in the fridge b4 going off. went back to main lab, take off lab coat, fan came rushing in to the lab asking everyone to leave, and check that no one left in the lab... so we all proceeded down... lol quite a while since we last evacuated the building liao. but happens quite often. i think the 3 or 4th during this current attachment liao. all false alarms. got once was cos the air in lvl 9 smell weird. they found later was due to some polluted air that got into the fresh air ducts at the top of the building... dunnoe how it happen/wat pollutant it was... but today... was cos the air con not working... and ppl complain v stuffy then they decided to evacuate everyone in case ppl start to faint... hmmm... air con went back on really soon after we came down tho. then i went to get the images and clean up, then went to look for fan... but then he was getting ready to go lunch with other lab officers... so joined them for lunch at ghim moh... haha good:D i more than 2week nvr go out for lunch liao (as in go holland v/drive/ghim moh, ok that day got treated at crystal jade but other than that v long nvr go out liao) haha finally see the char kway teow stall open... ok lah... waited abt 15 mins in line... food was ok lah... hmm... dunnoe. cant remember how nice one supposed to taste like liao.

showed kor the pics, no good... haiz. than later he came looking for me, quite happy... found some video abt the protocol, haha. put him in a good mood all day. was supposed to do assay for expt we did yest, but guess wat? some smart guy in my lab changed the speed of the orbital shaker from 25rpm to 200 rpm, and the caps came loss... dunnoe how much evaporated... in other words, we had no choice up to repeat... haiz. luckily he in a good mood.. else i dunnoe how loudly he'll be banging the table. and in part thks to the horrid ph adjusting time we had yest, things went much more smothly today. and he briefed me abt his project plans, smthing he hasnt done in ages. well in fact he hasnt talked properly to me in ages too... haiz. hmm thinking back, i think i know why he so moody these few days liao... but not sure if its also why he has been so moody the psat few weeks? oh wells. this guy is a big puzzle/mystery to figure out... lol. i said exactly the same thing abt hhx. yeah anyways that's how my day went... quite interesting maybe? oh wells. cya tmr...
